Its been a while since we last added any news to our website. Truth is, we have been exceptionally busy with several large projects on the go, and even more in the pipeline.
Our design team have recently completed several
websites for our clients, as well as turning out some wonderful
PowerPoint presentations. We will be adding a new section to our website
soon highlighting these services.
Every year, we have the pleasure of working with Preview Productions on
an event in a far flung place. This year, the BlackCat team are off to
Budapest for 10 days in May. Logistics are now in place to get the kit
and crew there. With an 1100 mile journey ahead of the drivers, there
will no doubt be a few adventures on the way, watch this space.
Two of our crew have recently been working on the new James Bond film in London. Skyfall has been filmed in various locations around Central London, and judging from what we have heard, is going to be a corker!
As you may already know, BlackCat has worked closely with The Kayas in various capacities over the years, and after a few problems within the band we are pleased to announce they are alive and kicking and ready to go again. On the 21st April, BlackCat will be in London technically supporting the band on the video shoot for their next single, *Power To The People" If you would like to pop along and see what we do, and hear some great music, please feel free to get in contact.
For about the last 12 years, we have the privilege of working with Rodenstock (UK) staging their annual awards event. This year the event took place at The Savoy after a brief sabbatical at The Dorchester during the refit of The Savoy.
The BlackCat crew arrived at 4am in the morning, working to a deadline of 10am to get everything up and running and ready for client rehearsals. By 9am we had transformed the Lancaster Ballroom much to the delight of our client.
Every year, Rodenstock have a guest speaker, but this year was to be different. First up was Chris Moon MBE. For any of you that are looking for an after dinner or motivational speaker, look no further than Chris. This man has a tale to tell, and is both humourous and a pleasure to work with. For more information on Chris, please click here.
Secondly, Rodenstock had kept a secret, and that secret was the arrival of Boris Becker to present one of the awards. Boris is six-times Grand Slam singles champion, an Olympic gold medalist, and the youngest-ever winner of the men's singles title at Wimbledon at the age of 17.
As always, the event went perfectly from beginning to end, and a great day was had by all.

Well, its been a while since we have done an update here, mainly because we have been run of our feet. So, what have we been up to?
Since our last update, we have completed numerous
projects successfully for our clients, ranging from corporate
conferences, award ceremonies, and good old fashioned parties. We usually
don't publically recommend or endorse external people, but a while ago we
had the pleasure of working with the most amazing close up magician and
mind reader, Jamie Raven.
Over the years, we have had the privilege of working with numerous
celebrities and magicians, but in all honesty, Jamie blew all the crew
away, along with the audience, and quite simply is the best we have ever
seen. If you are looking for something different for your next event,
check Jamie out here.
We get to work in some strange and wonderful
venues worldwide, yet it never ceases to amaze us that we get approached
to stage events in venues that are just not suitable for the event. After
all, you would not want attempt to do a car launch in a ballroom that is
on the first floor, where the goods lift is not big enough to get the car
in the room ( yes, this is true !!)
If you are looking for a specific venue, why not give us a call ?
We can help you select the right venue for your event, and take care of
all the technical staging as well.....

BlackCat recently staged an event at Aston Villa Hole Suite for one of our many clients who are an events production company. At BlackCat, we can either take care of the whole event for you, or just take care of the staging side of things, working with you all the way to complete your project for your end client.
For those of you that have not been there, the Holte Suite is at Aston Villa Football Club, and is a really good venue all round. Great access, superb staff with a great "can do" attitude, and a problem free venue to work in. As the majority of BlackCat staff are Norwich City supporters, it pains me to type this glowing report, but the fact is that Aston Villa have really got a great venue in the Holte Suite.
As always, the show went perfectly from start to finish, leaving our client and their end client happy with yet another successful event, job done.....

As the August bank holiday fast approaches, its
time for BlackCat to get prepared for the busy event season ahead. Over
the summer period, we have added extensively to our hire and event
equipment inventory, and managed to get holidays in for our staff !
As always, we hit the ground running in September starting off with a
large two day event at Aston Villla Football Club for one of our many
repeat clients.
It has really surprised us, considering the current financial climate,
how many advance bookings we have taken for equipment hire during the
Olympics next year. If you are planning an event, or need some equipment
during this period, please give us a call.
We're Recruiting...
To help complete our further growth plan, we currently require the following people to join our expanding team.
Freelance video and PowerPoint operators.
Must be fully conversant with PowerPoint and used to working in a show
environment.
Sales and Marketing
We are currently looking for an ambitious person to join our existing
team to help us further develop our vision for the future. Ideally, you
will have had previous experience of the event industry, and be willing
to work as part of a very hectic team based in Norwich.
If you would like to be considered for our freelance list, or would like more information on our Sales vacancy, please send us your CV in the first instance to info@blackcatpresentations.co.uk
As you can see, its been over a month since we
updated our news section, we have been so busy!!
Since our last update, our event staging department has been flat out
doing what it does best for clients old and new. We have completed
several major projects in the UK, and have picked up more repeat work
from one of our long standing clients later this year at Luton Hoo and
The Savoy. It will be the 15th annual event we have staged for this
company, we just love the long standing relationships we forge with our
clients.

Our equipment department thought Christmas had come early with the delivery of several new HD projectors and numerous other pieces of audio and video kit. Here at BlackCat, we pride ourselves in being able to supply what our clients want, when they want it, and at a cost effective price. This new equipment is only the start of a massive investment programme, watch this space.
Whilst on the subject of equipment, are you aware that with the digital switchover happening across the UK lots of older radio microphones will become obsolete? If you need any advise on the change over, or would like us to supply you with any new microphones. please don't hesitate to give us a call.
After a few hours rest (literally) post Cannes, it was back to the grindstone for BlackCat Presentations and our crew. Because we only employ the best of the best, our crew are always in high demand. Gary has been off to RockNess vision engineering, and John has just got back from the IOW festival. Away from the world of music, we have just had confirmed two massive events for different clients at the same venue. This is repeat business from these clients, and a strange coincidence they chose the same venue. Shame they are not back to back events, as this could have saved us a quite painful get in. No such luck !!
More importantly, BlackCat would like to welcome Trudi to the team. Trudi has taken on the role of Sales and Marketing Director, and has got off to a flying start! With an impressive CV, and over 20 years of experience, we know Trudi is going to help us develop our business to the next level. Trudi can be contacted on trudi@blackcatpresentations.co.uk
BlackCats favourite band, The Kayas, are going back to The Sawmills (see below) to finish off their album next week, and are hitting the road in September on their first major tour of the UK. BlackCat are currently working on tour logistics for the band, and dates will be announced soon. Watch this space.....
The BlackCat crew have just returned from Cannes after a head on week of shows (and a little partying !!) for one of our many repeat clients. Every year, our client who is a major software company, holds a users conference somewhere different in the world. This time it was Cannes, which tied in with the latter part of the Cannes Film Festival.

The event this year was held at The Majestic Hotel, which happened to be where the judging of the film festival was taking place. BlackCat were lucky enough to bump into several celebrities before our work started. It was an eye opening experience to witness the world of film and all its glamour "in the flesh", and to witness the amount of kit that was everywhere, along with very tired looking crew.

After all the fun was over, it was time for BlackCat to swing into action. Hundreds of delegates from around the globe descended on the venue for a very full programme of speakers and presentations. BlackCat took care of all the technical staging of the plenary room, two exhibition areas, a demo area, and six breakout rooms for our client. As always, everything went perfectly, and we exceeded our clients expectations. As we finished loading the trucks, our client came over and thanked us, and gave us the dates and venue for next year. Budapest here we come .....

About a week ago, BlackCat had the opportunity to go down to sunny Cornwall to visit The Sawmills studio courtesy of The Kayas. This was a rare chance to visit the most famous residential recording studio in the UK, and witness the best, soon to be very famous, band in the UK record a classic first album.
For those of you that have never heard of The Sawmills, it can only be described as superb. Set on its own creek near Fowey, it is only accessible by boat, and for those who are brave, by walking down a railway line. All the bands gear has to be taken in by boat, and for once, BlackCat was glad that we didn't have to do the get in !!
The studio itself has such a good vibe, and has been responsible for albums by New Model Army, The Verve, Oasis, and now The Kayas.
The Kayas are a four piece Indie/Rock band who are set to take 2011 by storm. They are one of the top live acts to be breaking out of the Midlands in recent years, and watching them record was an unforgettable experience.
At the time of writing this, The Kayas have just left the studio after completing 7 tracks for the album. They are due to return in June to finish off the album. In the mean time, the bands first single "I Have Been Waiting" is released on 6th June, and everyone at BlackCat cant wait to hear more from this great band.
Check out the video recorded at The Sawmills here.
BlackCat would like to thank The Kayas for their fantastic hospitality, and Ruth and Tom at The Sawmills for running such a great place.
For further information on The Kayas, please check out www.thekayasmusic.com
